You may be asking – How can I know God’s Will for me. One simple answer – Desire! You ask next – How do I know if it is God’s desire or my desire?

Is your heart clean or tainted? – If unclean and you are in sin, you can’t hear God and your desires could be warped. People in sin can twist or distort God’s desires saying what God didn’t say. Psalms 66:18; Titus 1:15. But you can rest assured that if it is pure clean and sincere before God and your desire is to know and do His Will you will be able to connect with Him, you are then open to receive his desires which become your desires Matthew 5:8, 1 John 1:7-9.

‘Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.’ Psalms 37:4. – As long as your heart is right motives are pure, you do not need to fear deception. God always answers the pure in heart: God reveals things to come.

‘Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” Matthew 5:8

Jeremiah had a prophetic ministry. He was called to give the Word of the Lord. When he tried to suppress it, the desire to prophesy became like fire shut up in his bones.

Are you are called to Evangelism?
You have a passion for souls. God gives you a burning desire to evangelize.
Are called to be an Intercessor?
God gives you a burning desire to intercede.
Are you called to a teaching ministry?
You have a burning desire to teach
And so on for every other ministry.

You can know God’s will for your life – General and Specific – Obey both!
General Will – General teachings of God’s Word in the Bible [Logos] – 2 Timothy 3:16
Specific Will [Rhema] – Be pure of heart and follow your God-given desires. Romans 10:17

If you seek Him you will find Him [and His Word] when you seek Him with all your heart. He asks you to call upon Him and He will answer you and show us things you are not aware of. He says His sheep hear His voice and follow Him.

God is always thinking of how to bless and prosper you… He has a General and Specific Will or Destiny for you.

And it pleases His heart when you long for Him to speak to you. God’s specific will comes to a pure and clean heart through a burning desire.

A simple exercise – you may list at least ten God-given desires prioritize them and follow them one after the other beginning with the greatest burning desire, followed by lesser to the least. Pray and appropriate these desires with prophetic proclamations in line with scripture.

As you maintain purity of heart through repentance of sins being washed by the Blood of Jesus, you can then follow your God-given burning desires.
